All About Windows: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are your installers trained?

Yes, the installers that come into your home have gone through training with the manufacturers programs for quality installation, and proper techniques in trim, seal, and weatherproofing.  Foremen of installation crews have 15+ years of window install experience.

How are the windows selected for my project?

All the lines that we represent at Dan the Window Man (DTWM) are selected for quality, efficiency, as well as ease of service, and company strength.  We shop all lines, and give you the best window and door for your budget, and your homes appeal and comfort.

Do you sell Energy Star approved windows?  Are they tested?

Yes, ALL the products we sell and install are Energy Star approved, and tested by the NFRC (national fenestration rating council) for U-value, R-value, and other statistics, so you KNOW just how good the windows are that you are purchasing. All windows come with a certification sticker, to show the test results and performance ratings.

How about my old windows?  Are they re-cycled, and disposed of properly?  Are you “Green”?

We are a “green” company that uses as many ecology minded practices as we can.  Metals are used again by re-cycling at a reseller.  Glass is disposed of there, and even cardboard packaging is turned in for re-use when possible.  Insulation used in the new window installation is non-harmful to the environment, and we have products that do NOT require constant maintenance with paints and varnishes.  All our caulk sealants are approved for safety.

Are your warranties written, and can I have a copy to keep on file?

Yes, we warrant the installation labor for 3 years, and there are written manufacturers warranties provided after the sale, to read and keep. Most are available on the manufacturer’s websites.

How do I know you are a good, solid company?  There are so many stories of contractors that do not live up to the contract.

DTWM, established in 1981 is a registered, licensed company, and gets permits where required.  All liability insurance is current, and on file.  Only 50% deposits are required upon contracting, and the balance due is paid by you only after walking through the work and the product and finishing to your satisfaction under the terms of the contract.

How about the prices?  Are you competitive?

Yes, we are.  Because of the length of time in business, DTWM has some of the best purchasing power in Colorado, and low overhead, meaning we can pass the great pricing on to you, without sacrificing quality of windows, or installation!  Check us out for monthly specials too, and promotions from our manufacturers!

How long does it take for installation of new windows and doors? Do I need to prep?

We do ask that you remove blinds and drapes, so we can do a great job and not soil or damage any of these.  Please remove any small fragile items from tables and walls near the windows.  We will move furniture.  The install normally takes 2 hours per window, average, but we install the new window itself in each opening within 20 minutes of removing the old.  We lay drop cloths, and protect delicate items and beds.

It is a lot of $$ to do a whole houseful of windows.  Does DTWM do partial jobs?

Yes, we can do as few as 3 windows, and not incur a job minimum charge.  We want to help you stay on budget, and stay comfortable and secure.
